Solar Stimulus Initiative

About GVI's Solar Stimulus Initiative

GreenVision's Solar Stimulus Initiative (SSI) is focused on developing actionable stimulus-related information for the solar industry and institutions that could benefit from stimulus funding to deploy solar energy.  The first project of SSI is the publication of twenty Solar Stimulus Briefs (SSB). In addition, we recently posted updates for all stimulus-funded solar programs as well as state specific reports for California and New Jersey.  Considering the positive feedback we have been receiving, our team is now offering consulting services for solar start-ups and small businesses as well as solar energy consumers.  We can help entities and individuals navigate the complicated spectrum of available solar programs and available incentives.  Please visit our Consulting Services tab to learn more about these services.

Project Origins

The Stimulus bill, or American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), has many provisions that pertain to solar energy. In the summer of 2009 a small team of graduate students were commissioned to summarize the solar provisions in the ARRA by Jigar Shah, founder of SunEdison and Travis Bradford, founder and president of The Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development and author of Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry (MIT Press; 2006).  GVI was asked to develop the project. It was named the Solar Stimulus Initiative (SSI) and Eric Heisman was appointed as director.
